Which free linux distro should i use for home computing as photo manipulation, gaming and watching films?
My computer is old : 1,8ghz p4 512mb ram 40gb hdd plus ati radeon 9000. I tried fedora: a lot of packages excluded, tried debian: too old components/packages, tried frugalware: driver problems, and missing packages. I prefer kde.
I highly recommend the very thorough linux distrubtion chooser test linked below. It'll recommend several suitable distros.
Particularly if you like KDE I would recommend kubuntu for its ease of set-up and use. It's essentially the ubuntu distro with a KDE interface and a few tweaks.
However, whatever distro you select, you are still likely to experience some problems with gaming.
